Guidelines for Maintaining Purity of Soul and Body

As Hinduism has been known to provide highest priority to purity, there are strict guidelines for maintaining the purity of the body and soul. Even women are believed to be contaminated during the phase of menstrual cycle due to which they are not allowed to enter the kitchen and participate in other religious activities.

Even they are not allowed to even touch any member of the family. It is believed that disobeying of these guidelines results in the creation of Rajaswala Dosha. Hence, in order to get rid of this dosha, organizing puja of Rishi Panchami along with fasting has been considered to be great. This puja is highly popular among the Nepali Hindus. Even in some regions of India, the fasting of Hartalika Teej concludes on the day of Rishi Panchami.
